Five on Friday

Hello there! It's been awhile, to say the least, since I've blogged.

But here is my Five on Friday. I know there is probably supposed to be pictures, but please forgive me this time.

1.
I'm nannying for the whole weekend. Well, if you can call staying with a 15, 13, and 11 year old "nannying". I prefer to call it just hanging out. I'm basically their driver and sleep here at night. Anyways, they're some of the nicest girls I've ever hung out with. Way sweeter than I was when I was their age. I'm just gonna go ahead and say this, I was a total bitch when I was 15. Truth.

2.
I have two finals standing in the way of me and summer. Well, can I call it summer when I'm taking an online class? Also known as, my LAST ELECTIVE EVER! I'm beyond stoked. And then on Saturday, every state university in Oregon has their graduation. So, that means my bff will be getting her degree in Criminal Justice and Psych. Watch out world, she may be packin' heat soon!

3.
My friends and I are trying to put together a camping trip here in the next month or so. I grew up camping maybe once a year for a span of 5 years so I'm not used to it nor do I see the big hype about sleeping in a tent and roastin' weenies over a fire. Well, maybe the weenies part! But the more we've discussed it, the more excited I am! We'll just have to pick a time when it's warm and toasty!

4.
I want to make a summer bucket list. But I have to think of good things. I know that one of them will be trying out all of the drinking games I've pinned on Pinterest for the last few months. Sad, but true. Yes, my friends and I like to drink but we're not stupid about it. Parents = built in DDs!

5.
I really need to yell at ask my parents to put up our pool this weekend or next week. April and I bought one to put up at her house and now we need one at mine! It gets so FREAKING hot here in the valley during the summer that a pool is a must. And I hope our Keiko the killer whale floatie didn't die from all those years under the deck.

That's it! Have a good weekend!

What my BFF thinks of me

Everyone has been doing the "What my _____ thinks of me". Typically being their husband/boyfriend/fiance. But... since I'm forever alone, I'm having my bff, April, write up a few things about your's truely. So, here we go!

My responses to what she says is in the blue!

________________________________________________________________________________

Most selfless person. This bitch will do anything for people she loves and cares about. She is absolutely wonderful and it's rare that you will find someone as amazing as she is. There just aren't many people like Hayley in the world.

Awwww. Thanks, boo!

Is someone that can keep up drinking with me. Lets be honest, that's hard to do! I am quite the drinker. I'll just say, there was one night we drank a full fifth of Fireball whiskey, half of fifth of Seagrams whiskey and half a fifth of Henny JUST US.

Ohh dear, the truth is out to the whole world now. Let's just say it wasn't our best night.

Great listener. I can literally talk her ear off about the same thing for hours and she just sits and listen to me. Whether it's just me bitching about worthless stuff or legit stuff that I need advice on.

It's true. I always say I'm a good listener but I'm not a good talker.

Funny as hell. I swear every single time we are around each other (which is 24/7 when she's not up at school) we are constantly crackin jokes and laughing. People seriously love us so much, we don't even understand why.

We can't count how many times we hear "are you guys sisters?" or "you girls are best friends, aren't you?". It's because we are laughing 90% of the time we are out in public!

Good cook. This bitch needs to be on Iron Chef America. She loves cooking and is really freakin good at it. Me on the other hand, not so much. She likes to make fun of me when I cook. Sorry we aren't all skilled culinarists!

I should video tape April while she's cooking, because it's hilarious. I wish I could explain why but I can't!

SUCH a MM. If Hayley had the oxygen to do so, she would talk or sing Every. Single. Second. Of. Every. Damn. Day. And I even feel like that's an understatement. We can just be hanging out and she will bust out in some random ass song like she's on American Idol. Unfortunately in the last 9 years, her motor mouthness has rubbed off on me. Awesome.

MM stands for "motor mouth". As in my mouth is always moving. Always. It runs in my family.

Half dude- I swear she's half dude, but in a good way. It's rare that you can find a girl that loves sports (and actually knows about every sport) and beer. We are basically bad asses. That's why we are besties.

Agreed. I know more about sports than the average female. And I love it. I wouldn't change a thing about it!

_________________________________________________________________________________

And there you have it! That is what my BFF, April, thinks of me. She's got the mouth of a sailor sometimes but that is why I love her!

Have a good day!

Spring wish list

Okay so, we technically only have one month left of Spring, so this could transfer into a Summer wish list.
But whateva!

I want these to help organize my hair and body stuff in my room. I have a ton of products, lotions, and other essentials that, right now, are just clumped together on my dresser. I want to use the shelves to clear up some space for pictures, my printer, and other knick-knacky things. Ya know, dust collectors.

I'm a total jeans and t-shirt kinda girl. My ideal outfit is a black v-neck shirt and cuffed jeans or denim shorts. That's it, plain and simple, just like me. I do, however, love to wear bright colored shoes with my "boring" outfits. I have a pair of yellow Vans already that I LOVE and I know I'd love these. They'd go well with my pink sparkly TOMs.

You may think I'm crazy for this one... But, I want to use mason jars as glasses. I think they're so cute and also do double duty for storage containers. Plus, they're cheaper than buying a set of actual drinking glasses. I'm in love with this idea!

When people hear you're from the state of Oregon, they think one of two things: hippie or country bumpkin. No for real, Northern Oregonians used to think us Southern Oregonians rocked cowboy hats, had missing teeth, and chewed on hay. Anyways, call me a hippie Oregonian but I have wanted Birkenstocks for YEARS. I think they're cute, comfortable, and add a little "Oregonian" to any outfit.

I love wearing black. In fact, I love it so much that April told me in the dressing rooms at Target that I "looked like a Gother." Whatever, I still love it. And during the warm Spring and hot hometown Summers, there's nothing I love more than throwing on a dress and calling it good. I love this one because it's not a tank top and, well...it's black!

Obsessed. I'm totally obsessed with this sweatshirt. And right now, I'm also obsessed with cutting sweatshirts and shirts into boat-neck style shirts. So, I would do the same to this. April started doing it and I also found a good tutorial here. Actually, that blog is the same one that introduced me to Hello Apparel. Anyways, I'm hardcore diggin on this sweatshirt. Like I said, obsessed.

So there you have it. My Spring/Summer wish list. What's on your's?

Happy Sunday!

All about me

I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner today for her 20 year old girls, who don't have kids, who blog.

And that's me!

This is my first link-up and and I have to say, I'm a little nervous!

So I guess I should start off with an intro.
I'm Hayley and I'm 23 years old. I live in Oregon and I am finishing up my last year at Oregon State.

I'm a Christian.
I was baptized on New Year's Day 2012 by my awesome brother.

And so you don't think I'm some creeper with no face to my name, here I am!
This was on the beach in California circa Summer 2011 for my sister's bachelorette weekend!

My parents and me last summer.
I'm like every other kid that thinks their parents are "the best".
They'll be married 38 years this July and they're one of those couples that are high school sweethearts!

And I'm the baby of this awesome group of siblings.
My brother is the oldest, Mrs. Wookie on the right, who also has a blog here, and my middle sister, the one in white.
This is one of my favorite pictures of all of us, because we're rarely all together. I have the best childhood memories from these people. We're very sarcastic, like to make fun of each other, and like to enjoy cigars when we're all together.

I also have a niece and a nephew that I'm obsessed with. I like to call myself Crazy Aunt Hayley.

Here's Ryan with his snowman. He's three and is the best thing on the planet.

And here is the most recent picture I could find of my niece, Emma, who is a year and a half. We were FaceTiming in this picture!

This is me and my gorg BFF, April. I mention her a lot her on the blog.
We're basically those really annoying friends that, even though we moved apart when we were 18 to go to college, still talk all day, every day. And whenever I go home, we're always together.

My friends and I also love football.
We love drinking, tailgating, goofing off, and of course, watching the actual game.

Now, I mentioned I go to Oregon State but what I failed to mention is that I'm in love with my little college town.

Here is beautiful Reser Stadium.

And a panoramic shot during a game.

I also love baseball. It is probably my favorite sport.

Oregon State has won back to back National Championships, too!

The best thing about my college town is that everything on campus is close together. The football and baseball stadiums, Gill Coliseum (where all indoor sports are), the intramural sports fields, and all of the classroom buildings are right next to each other. Like I said before, I love it here.

Some other random facts about me:

Almost all of the picture on my blog are from my iPhone.
I'm a pretty decent cook.
I like to drink with my friends.
My major is Business Management.
I want to work for the University after I graduate.
My long term goal is to own my own Event Planning company.
Everyone in my family talks a lot.
When we're together it's basically everyone talking over one another at higher volumes.
My siblings have all graduated from Oregon State. I'll be the last one!

If you're visting from Kelly's Korner, please leave a comment and say hello! I would love to meet you!

Have a good night!

Vega$ 2013

Oh boy. This past weekend, my friends and I went to Vegas. We also met one of our out of town friends there. It was 48 hours of drinking, gambling, and being crazy. And it was a BLAST!

Recap here we go...

Thursday morning, bright and early, after witnessing the longest security lines ever at the Portland airport, we boarded a giant steel bird to Las Vegas!

I apologize for the creepy side eye. Ohh and bonus points for taking April's plane-ginity! That's right, her first time on a plane!

We drank on our flight, landed, grabbed a cab to Planet Hollywood, and met up with our friend, Eric.

I received this response from my dad when I said we made it to the hotel...

He knows us too well!

After the breakfast buffet (holla!) and a quick nap in our room, (which I didn't actually sleep because everyone and their dog thought it would be a good time to call and text me) we headed down to the casino for some slots!

Umm hello, cute chihuahua penny slot! You know I had to play that one...

After losing $5, we ventured outside and just walked around. Here are my standard, annoying-as-hell scenery pictures...

Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan. The goal is for it to look super swanky, but in my opinion, it looks like dollar store beads...

Now, I loooove a good mojito. How about a 24oz mojito? Sounds good to me! We stopped and people watched outside Caesar's. People watching in Vegas is the best ever. EVER.

After we were all thoroughly buzzed, we hiked down to the Venetian to a bar that Eric wanted to go to. He was on a quest for sour beers and we found some!

We had a few drinks at Public House, including this sour beer. April liked it because there was a cat on the bottle. Oh, and they had iPads as menus! Crazy!

I became obsessed with The Hangover slots. You don't even know how much money I threw away on this thing. Actually... I don't know how much either because the drinks were a-flowin'!

This is the picture I sent to Mrs. Wookie with my Long Island. Long story short is that she's a hater of me and my LI's...

My bestie and I at another random bar where we enjoyed some Jager bombs. My parents don't like Jager. Are they CRAZY?!

Friday afternoon, we walked to the Monte Carlo and went to Minus 5. Aka: a bar made of ice. It was so much fun and lets just say things got a liiiiiitle crazy!

We had dinner Friday night at Burgr, Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Planet Hollywood. It was so good, but my memory of it is a little fuzzy. I do remember having the world's best jalapeno poppers, though!

One of the best vodka tonics I've ever had!

April and Eric at dinner. Say it with me, "awwwwwwwww."

After dinner, we walked to the Bellagio where we proceeded to watch the fountains for an HOUR! We kept hoping for at better song. Thursday when we watched, they played the Celine Dion Titanic song. Looooove. But Friday the best song was (shout out to my dad!) "Time To Say Goodbye" by Andrea Bocelli.

We woke up Saturday at the crack of dawn but feeling like champs. No hangovers here!

One last look from the airport. The weather was so amazing!

Do you have SnapChat? If not, you should get it. I sent this to my other friends to show that I was alive and well. I clearly have no makeup on but I'm not looking totally horrible, right?!

Vegas was such a blast and I'd go back again this weekend if I could.

I have about 2 weekends from now until the end of the term that I DON'T have something going on. Busy, busy, Buggy!

Have a good night and cheers to warmer weather!

Corvallis, I love you

I'm super excited about this post. I'm taking inspiration from Jamie's post about my cute little college town that I love. Jamie lives in Athens, Georgia, is about to graduate from UGA, and loves her town! So here is my town of Corvallis, Oregon!

This week is all about our favorite bars and restaurants. That is just one thing I love about Corvallis. We have so many places that brew their own beer and have awesome homemade food.

Block 15: One of the best things about this bar is that they make a seasonal fruit ale beer. Strawberry, marionberry, and blueberry are some of the flavors I've had. Another one of Block 15's specialties are their beer-battered fries. They are OUT OF THIS WORLD. The restaurant does a good job at transferring into a bar after 10pm but you're still able to order the whole menu. This place is definitely casual and laid back fun.

Flat Tail is another laid back place. Their name is derived from our mascot, the beavers. They have good beer and even better food. They are located down on the waterfront so when the weather is nice, it's so fun to sit outside. One of my favorite beers they have is sour beer. I can't remember what it's called but it's so good. Helpful, huh?

Clodfelter's is located right across from campus on Monroe. It gets pretty busy on weekend nights because it is in such a good, central location. Every Wednesday night is "pint night" where they feature a different beer every week and you get to keep the glass! Again, Clod's is super low key and is fun on the weekends. They also have syringe jello shots!

McMenamins: A Corvallis favorite that is also located on Monroe Street, the next block up from Clod's. They are famous for their Ruby beer and cajun spicy tots. The best thing to do after class on any day of the week is head to McMenamins, order both of those things, and get a little buzz on. It becomes a cool hang out at night, but nothing fancy. There are pool tables upstairs and it is just a cool place to chill with friends.

Big River is also on the waterfront, just a few blocks from Flat Tail. They have a really ecletic menu and good pizza. Also, I've never met a wine there that I didn't love. They are passionate about using local products and ingredients whenever possible. My dad and I just went there last week and we discovered that if you buy a 16 oz Guinness, you get to keep the glass!

That is just a little glimpse into my college town. There are plenty more restaurants and bars but those are definitely the most popular. We here at Oregon State like to keep it casual and low key but fun!

Go Beavs!

Randoms and 23rd birthday recap

Remember how my birthday was a month ago? And how I'm just now recapping it? Oh well.

But first, just a random photo recap...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love living close to campus. It's so gorgeous during sunset.

I was en route to the baseball stadium at this time and I got this picture of the football stadium. I love it!

Game 1 versus Bryant University. I had no idea where they were from. I still don't.

The next day, we had a double header and I had awesome seats on the 3BL. That's third baseline, for you rookies out there.

Ummmmm, heyyyyyy boys!

During the game, I felt two hands on my shoulders...

and it was Benny!

That weekend, just happened to be my birthday. I decided to head back to my hometown for the weekend to celebrate with family and friends.

My dad greeted me at the door with this deliciousness. He bought it at Costco while on a business trip to California. Because Oregon is a dumb state, they don't sell hard liquor in grocery stores.

On my actual birthday, April and I went to Ulta because I had some coupons. I scored a big bottle of Viva La Juicy, mascara, concealer, and a trial of deep conditioner for CHEEEAP!

For dinner ON my birthday, my parents and I went to sushi which was so good. And that weekend I went with my whole family to Shojis (think Benihana) and I had my nephew sit by me. He was so cute and loved the fire. Afterwards, we went back to the house and had cake and ice cream.

My dad is always the best at bringing me coffee on the way home from his morning errands. Love him!

During the week, April had her nanny girl. So I decided to go and pick up my nephew and head to the park. Ryan and Ellie were so adorable together!

The best coffee of the weekend. Bad Ass has the best iced white mochas. And look, Chet is in the background.

Sunday, I headed back to school and to catch the another baseball game. It was a clear night and was an awesome time for America's favorite past time.

Why do I only take scenery pictures? It's kind of annoying...

And we won! The Beavs are on fire!

My walk home from the stadium. The best thing about OSU's campus is that everything is so close together. I love it here!
