California here we come, part 2

After staying up until 1am talking with April's family, we finally headed to bed. We woke up Thursday morning, got ready, and headed out to breakfast with her aunt. Auntie took us to her favorite hole in the wall place.

We headed to Hash House a go go  and I'm not kidding you, the portions were HUGE.

 See?!
Yes, that's my meal. Served in a cast iron skillet. I got the chorizo scramble and it was so good. I barely made a dent in it, though.

After breakfast, we got a crash course in San Diego road rage from April's aunt. It was hilarious!

We headed over the Coronado bridge to check out that cute little town.

My apologies for the crappy photo. It was the best I could do from the moving car!

Coronado is such a cute place. They have adorable houses and it has such a patriotic feel to it. I would move there in a heartbeat...if I could afford it.

After Coronado we went to Balboa Park to walk around and best of all, people watch. Anyone that says they don't like to people watch, they're lying. Plus, in California you get to see people from all over. We spent about an hour at Balboa Park and then headed back to April's aunt's house to rest up before PIFA practice.

Auntie Salani asked me if I wanted some watermelon. I said yes and she presented me with this HUGE bowl. It was so good!

Thursday evening, we went to watch the practices for PIFA. PIFA is the Pacific Islander Festival Association and April's aunt is on the board. It's a really cool event that happens every year in September. We missed it this year but are going in 2013 for sure! To read more about it, click here.

April's GIANT extended family and all of those involved with PIFA are so friendly. They hugged and kissed us like we were their own. Should I also point out that I was the palest person there? That night, we went out to dinner at Phils BBQ which was so delicious.

We headed out early Friday morning towards San Jose. It was about 7 hours but went by fast. We checked into our hotel and had about 30 minutes to freshen up before we had to be at our next event.

We went to the Winchester Mystery House and it. was. awesome. Both April and I had been there before but it was about 8 years ago so it was awesome to go back. We had a funny tour guide, too!

This is the only picture I have from inside the house. It's of the Winchester family tree and I found out right after I took this that there's no photography allowed on the tour. Oops!

After the tour and raiding the gift shop, we headed to dinner at one of my favorite California restaurants, Elephant Bar.

I got a blood orange mojito and April got a margarita, of course. That girl loves herself some tequila. Because I had to drive, I could only drink half of my drink but don't worry, my trusty sidekick "offered" to have the rest.

Once we got back to the hotel, April and I popped a bottle of rose. We had quite a few technical difficulties with our old school bottle opener but we figured it out!

Our last destination was San Francisco but that deserves a post to itself. Not only do I absolutely love that city but I also took a ton of pictures.
