What's in a name?

Okay, so I've been debating for a couple days about whether or not to even write this post. I mean, I'm only 20 years old, still in college, and well, single. So why on earth would I write out what I want to name my future children? Well, first of all, so I actually remember them, and second of all, because I feel like a lot of girls my age and younger or older think about what they want to name their future children.

So here goes nothing...

Boys

Name: Jacob Ryan

Jacob: For years now I have always LOVED the name Jacob. I like the way it sounds and it was the #1 most popular name in 2002. Jacob is also hebrew and means "supplanter" (whatever that means, haha).

Ryan: The reasoning behind this is a little obvious, but I also love the name Ryan. It is totally a family name too, seeing as my Dad, brother and now nephew are named Ryan. It will be really special to have my son named after the two most important men in my life that I looked up to so much growing up. It also means "young royalty".

My first born son will definitely be named Jacob Ryan.

Name: Kellan William

Kellan: I really like this name because it's different. I love "K" names, but only if they're unique (props, Sarah!). I like the way this name sounds and feel like there just aren't many Kellans in the world. Kellan also means "powerful", which I have to say that I completely agree. It just sounds powerful.

William: This was my maternal Grandpa's name. He was really special to me and I have very specific memories of him. I want my son to have a strong middle name to go with his "powerful" first name and William means "protector", which is right on.

Girls

Name: Ava Hayley

Ava: I love the way this name sounds and I feel that it has a great mix of uniqueness and being classic. Ava means "like a bird", which just makes me think of Nelly Furtado. Haha

Hayley: Okay now, so there's kind of a little bit of a tradition in my family. My middle name is Christine, which is my mom's name. My mom's middle name is Luree, which is my grandmas (Mom's mom) name. Get it? So I really want to continue that tradition with my daughter. Hayley also means "hero", which I could get used to haha.

Name: Alanna Lucille

Alanna: I have liked this name for a while now also, just like the name Jacob. I feel like it is a really pretty sounding name, is sophisticated and yet, timeless. Alanna means "peaceful and serene" which I think is beautiful.

Lucille: This was my paternal Grandma's name. I was never able to meet her but have heard stories and can only imagine the great woman she was. I want a piece of her to live on through my daughter. Lucille means "light".

Now obviously, who knows exactly how many children I will even have, so these are just the ones I have planned out. And some of these names may seem a little "out-dated" or "old" but like I said before, I want my precious family members to live on through my children, because they deserve it.

If I think of anymore, I'll let you know. I could always use more, because I do want to have a big family. But, not "Duggar" like, so don't worry too much. :)

  1. I love this names you've picked. Let's hope your husband agrees. If not, your children could be two months old before they have a name. And you'll end up calling them "baby girl" or "baby boy". Ha ha ha.

  2. I happened upon your post while googling my name out of boredom. I find it intriguing since my name is Hayley Luree (first and middle). Luree being my Grandmother's name. I'm a 4th gen Luree, and my daughter is the 5th. :) Have to say, I honestly thought I wouldn't find any with both. What a fun find!
